Pecan was established in 1989 as the local churches' response to the high levels of unemployment in Peckham.

Pecan and Southwark Foodbank

Pecan is a charity that helps transform the lives of disadvantaged people through various training and motivational projects. Much of their focus is in helping unemployed people get and hold satisfying jobs. They are based in Peckham, Camberwell and Elephant & Castle in South London. Pecan was established in 1989 as the local churches’ response to the high levels of unemployment in Peckham. All Saints has been a supporter of Pecan since its very early days but the links have grown stronger in recent years, most recently through the PEEP youth project at the Bradfield Youth Centre.

Foodbank

We are starting to have regular collection of non-perishable food for the Southwark Foodbank (previously called Peckham Foodbank). Every Sunday we are taking suitable food items at the same time as our financial collection in the service, so that all of it is part of our offering to God week by week. This is in recognition of our partnership stretching back many years with Pecan who run the Foodbank and the increased calls on their services in recent months.
