40acts in Lent
February 14 @ 12:00 am - April 1 @ 12:00 am
Every Lent we often ask each other ‘what are you giving up?’ This Lent as a church we’re getting involved in the 40acts movement organised and run by Stewardship. And instead of giving something up, we want to take something on.
During the 40 days of Lent, 40acts participants are invited to take part in 40 simple acts of generosity which will challenge them to ‘do Lent generously’ in 2018. The acts or challenges are wide-ranging and various but all are designed to explore what it means to be generous in a very practical way. They can be done by individuals or done in groups but the key is that small acts of generosity, performed by thousands of people across the UK and beyond, have the power to make a big change to our communities, to our churches and, ultimately, to our world. It’s about creating a movement of generosity.
This term we, All Saints Peckham, are thinking about OUT -‘stepping out in the power of the Spirit’ This will run through our services, in our sermons and other church activities, including this Lent Course. In the power of the Spirit, let’s generously reach out to our community showing the love of Jesus.
What to do:
• Get the free small group 40acts material from the church office
• Tweet, Instagran or post your acts with the #40acts
• Share your experiences/testimonies of taking part in this challenge
We will be launching the course at our Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday 14 February at 8pm.
It’s always good to get others alongside you – if you want more information on small groups or prayer triplets for this Lent Course, please contact the church office, email@example.com
